Time Savers Work Smarter, not Harder. There is wisdom in learning to make tasks more efficient, and doing a little work now to save a lot later. Time savers are often preventive in nature. Long Hair Care If you or your child has long hair, caring for it can be a chore, but there are a few things you can do to make it less painful! Brush your hair before you wash it. Most people brush it morning and night, and of course, after washing. For a child, you pretty much have to help them learn to do this. Brushing before washing makes sure you are not washing tangles in, and makes a big difference in how easily it brushes out after. Wash carefully. Do not wad the hair up on top of the hair and squash it all around. Instead, leave the hair neatly brushed (if you wash it in the sink, brush it upside down before washing). Shampoo the top, and rub the shampoo into the scalp with as little movement of the hair as possible. Then pull the shampoo down through the back. If you use conditioner, you can put it just on the ends, where it is needed most. If you are outside much, tie up the hair. Wind and sports can tie knots in it! A ponytail can keep most of them out. Make Leftovers and Freeze Them It takes the same time to make a large meal as a small one. Plan leftovers of the things your family likes, and freeze a second meal worth. If you only have a little leftovers, freeze them for fast meals for teens on the run. While this is hardly a new idea, sometimes a reminder of what we know can help us get going in a new direction.
